Russia’s Tele2 offers new Android 6.0 branded smartphone
MOSCOW, Aug 18 (PRIME) -- Russian mobile operator T2 RTK Holding, working as Tele2, has started selling its branded 3G smartphone Tele2 Midi operating on the Android 6.0 system for 2,890 rubles apiece, the company said in a statement seen by PRIME on Thursday.
“The popularity of smartphones among Tele2 clients is on the rise. As of the end of the first half of 2016 the share of smartphones increased by 5 percentage points to 46.1% of the total number of devices registered in Tele2’s network,” Igor Maistrenko, the company’s director for sales and mass market development, said.
“It certainly results from one of our large-scale projects to develop 3G and 4G. Advanced connection services at low prices have become available for the majority of population of our country. We hope the share of smartphones in our network will continue growing thanks to subscribers’ interest in the Tele2 Mini and the Tele2 Midi,” he said.
The new smartphone with a 4.5-inch screen is equipped with slots for two SIM cards – Tele’s 3G and a 2G card of any operator – and a four-core processor MediaTek.
The operator opened sales for its first smartphone, the Tele2 Mini, in February, and over 500,000 devices have been distributed since then.
